| While walking through Fisherman's Park this morning at approx. 10:35 a.m., a Cruise Victoria bus passed along St. Lawrence and Erie to Dallas using what sounded like engine retarder brakes (very distinctive noise) 3 times. It was your large, new, blue bus. This is not acceptable in a residential area, just adding additional, unnecessary noise. | |||||

I can confirm that our unit C11 is equipped with a Jake brake, however I can also confirm that it is locked in the off position. I viewed the status of the switch myself and my driver instructor was the driver Sunday morning and he confirms that the switch was never in the on position. There is no reason for an engine brake to be used in any urban area - we train our staff to ensure they remain in the off position and I have not had to enforce this policy as I have yet to witness one being used in the City limits. I am not certain what you may have heard on Sunday, but it was not an engine brake from one of our coaches. Thank you for you input. Gary |
