10:47 p.m. Aug. 1 - Cruise Victoria bus going the wrong on Dallas Erie. I have measured, with a calibrated sound meter, that there is a tremendous variation in noise depending upon the way the driver handles the bus. The decibel level is considerably lower (e.g. greater than 5 dbA) when the driver GENTLY approaches corners and GENTLY accelerates. I suspect this is due mostly to the diminished use of air brakes as well as lower RPM and diesel turbo-spooling upon acceleration. I have also noticed, several times, that Wilson\\\\\\\'s Transport is using what sounds like Engine Retarder Brakes on their buses. This is very annoying - especially since they drive through the neighbourhood early in the a.m. - going clock-wise on Dallas Road, after presumably picking up the bus from what amounts to a transport bus parking lot at Ogden Point. Perhaps some \\\\\\\"coaching\\\\\\\" is required. Can you let me know if you agree. |
